SELOUS IMPALA STAFF

Selous Impala Staff - December 2009

The Manager for the coming season is Matteo Cantini, born 1974. He is Italian and speaks English well.
He came to Africa for the first time in 2001 and has grown to love the continent deeply.
He worked for 6 months in the R.D. Congo as a volunteer in a Mission, but his greatest experience was in Namibia
where he was employed in a private reserve as Head Ranger / Game manager for 4 years.
He also worked for a couple of years as guide for a tour operator, travelling across Namibia, South Africa, Botswana and Tanzania.

Barbara Ripamonti is the Assistant Manager. She was born in Milano Italy in 1973 and speaks English and Italian.
After finishing her studies she worked as an Accountant but decided that city life was not for her so she decided to travel and experience different cultures.
She came to Africa in 2000 and worked in Southern Africa for several years. Later she managed a hotel in Jamaica before returning to Africa to work at Selous Impala where she loves the Selous Game Reserve
and feels that its amazing how the simple, natural world can give her so much – she never wants to leave!

Mussa Makomba

Musa Makomba, Chief Guide

Musa Makomba, was born on the 27th of September 1976 at Tabora western Tanzania. Grew up with his father who was one of the earliest warden at Mahale National Park, where he developed his careers' interests. He has been studied conservation science and posses a diploma in Tourism Management attained from Kenya while guiding was one of the subject. He is also a member of the Wildlife Conservation Society of Tanzania and supported member of the African Bird Club of United Kingdom. In 2002 to 2006 he was involving in scientific research project with the Max-planck Institute of Behavior Physiology of Germany before joined Impala Camp.

Most of the Staff at Selous Impala have obtained certificates in the PADI course for Emergency First Response.
